On January 21st, 2021, Honourable Henry Charles Usher, Minister of the Public Service, Constitutional and Political Reform, met with UN Resident Coordinator, Ms. Birgit Gerstenberg. This introductory meeting was to establish and set the tone for the way forward. 

During the meeting, mutual areas of interest were discussed. Special attention was given to the Good Governance policy. Minister Usher gave particular importance to the transformation of governance in the country. “ We will transform the workings of government, which will allow us to serve the people better. We have to go beyond reform. time to transform.” Ms. Gerstenberg conveyed how she was looking forward to the modification of government business and offered her assistance where needed. 

Minister Usher expressed his appreciation for the strong and active relationship, which has existed between the United Nations’ office in Belize and the country over the past years.

Also in attendance were Dr. Osmond Martinez, CEO in the Ministry, Tracey Hutchinson, Strategic Planner & Team Leader (UNRCO), Diane Wade-Moore, Program Analysis (UNDP).
